In The Gallery

Randy Emmons

I grew up in Monterey, CA, I knew I was going to be an “artist.” But I ended up with a Navy career. In 2005, I decided to start painting watercolors.
My
studio is in the garage where I draw, contemplate, make faces, stare, stir in a little whimsy and put paint to paper. It’s a long journey from my childhood to Whidbey, but I feel the connection to that kid who always
believed he would become an artist.

Linda Lenhardt

I  am a clay artist, hand building all of my work from slabs of clay. I texture these slabs with various materials (pods, shells, fabric, stamps and tools). Each of my pieces is unique, and I think my  love of nature is  incorporated in each of them.
In 2016, my husband and I moved from Illinois with our dog. Being born and raised as a "flatlander", this beautiful area of the country - from the clouds to the mountains to the water
- never ceases to amaze and inspire me.

Donna Nevitt-Radtke

I have considered myself an artist for as long as I can remember, taking every opportunity to study art. I studied at Pierce College in the San Fernando Valley California, at UCLA and with Ruben martin in Santa Monica. I continually take workshops with many well-known artists each one adding to my skills.  I started an antiques import business in the 80s and returned to the Skagit valley. Going to Europe twice a year to buy antiques and helping my antique shop clients with interior design ate up most of my creative energy, but I was always painting in my head. Eventually the need to get back to brush and canvas became to strong. I am to make time for my love of painting and have pursued that need with a passion. My primary medium is oil, but I also paint in pastel, which is an old and exciting medium. Many of my paintings are on deep canvas with the painting continuing on the sides. Some of these are framed in shadowbox frames. I continually challenge myself so each painting adds to my knowledge of design, value and color.

Rabbit digs a deep hole which ends up at the arctic where he meets Penguin.  The 2 becomes fast friends and visit quite often.  Penguin likes to save magic snowflakes into bottles and gives one to Rabbit to water his vineyard.  Penguin also gave Rabbit an extra bottle to gather the grapes.  The magic wine bottle choose only the best grapes to harvest and take inside the bottle.  On one arctic visit after the grape harvest,  they opened a bottle of wine which released a multitude of colors into the air.  Now each harvest time the 2 friends release more colors to enjoy a shared glass of special wine while watching the Northern Lights.

From her studio on Fidalgo Island, she pursues an impressionistic approach in both plein air and studio painting that brings together her love of nature and an eternal curiosity; she finds painting always to be a process of exploration and discovery.
